Novera Khan
Counselor, MS, APC
You are the author of your own life story, and no one understands your experiences better than you. My therapeutic approach emphasizes individuality, recognizing that our past shapes our present. I encourage clients to explore their histories to better understand how past experiences influence their mental well-being today.
My therapy process begins with building a strong, trusting relationship where you feel comfortable. From there, we collaborate to find what works best for your lifestyle—whether it’s developing daily coping strategies or addressing past experiences for deeper healing. I believe in letting my clients take the lead, tailoring sessions to their unique needs using talk therapy, mindfulness, art, games, or other methods.
As a first-generation Pakistani-American Muslim from Rochester, NY, I understand the complexities of balancing cultural identity while navigating life’s challenges. I am committed to creating a supportive space for clients from diverse backgrounds. With experience in domestic violence counseling, school mental health, crisis management, family trauma, and eating disorder therapy, I bring a well-rounded approach to care. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, painting, home decor, traveling, and Bollywood movies. I'm excited to join the Lighthouse BHC team and support your journey.
